Dealing with the Challenges of the Trump Administration in 2019
Almost every day, the Trump Administration promulgates new rules and regulations to limit both legal and illegal immigration. We are experiencing a challenging environment for all aspects of Immigration, legal and illegal, under the Trump Administration, which is unprecedented in modern times. Trump has issued numerous executive orders, including 3 "travel bans" for 7 middle eastern countries, which were temporarily enjoined by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals However, the US Supreme Court has now upheld his latest travel ban- 3.0. He is planning to limit legal immigration, by limiting the numbers of visas allocated for extended family members. He has vowed to crack down on "alleged abuse" of the H-1B Visa program and Immigration has already greatly increased the number of Requests for Evidence "RFE"s for H-1B's. He is planning on ending work authorization for H-4 spouses of H-1B's. Recently, Immigration has issued a policy memo in July 2018, stating that Immigration officers can just summarily deny visa applications, without issuing an RFE to give the applicant an opportunity to correct any problems. He has expanded the categories of aliens to be priorities for deportation; and has increased workplace raids and interior enforcement.Recently, ICE has raided 100 7-11s. He is ending the Temporary Protected Status "TPS" program for numerous countries, including El Salvador, and has ended the DACA program for the so called "Dreamers", which the courts have temporarily enjoined. Attorney General Sessions has greatly limited the ability to obtain political asylum for  victims of gang violence and domestic abuse. He has also limited the ability of Immigration Judges to administratively close cases and to grant continuances. As a consequence in the current climate, the need for an experienced Immigration attorney like Mr. Kantor, who will fight for your rights, and provide creative solutions for your case, is more important than ever. When your future is at stake, don't trust it to a paralegal, notario or new lawyer, go to an expert, go to Eli Kantor.
